Chapter 9
1 Now the queen of Sheba heard the report about Solomon, and she came to test Solomon with riddles in Jerusalem, with a very great retinue and camels bearing spices, gold in abundance, and precious stones. And she came to Solomon and spoke with him about everything that was on her heart. 2 And Solomon told her all her words, and there was no word hidden from Solomon which he did not tell her. 3 The queen of Sheba saw Solomon's wisdom and the house that he had built. 4 and the food of his table and the sitting of his servants and the standing of his attendants and their clothing and his cupbearers and their clothing and his burnt offering which he offers up at the house of the LORD, and there was no more spirit in her. 5 She said to the king, "The report I heard in my land about your words and your wisdom is true." 6 And I did not believe their words until I came and my eyes saw—and behold, they did not tell me half of the abundance of your wisdom; you have added to the report that I heard. 7 Blessed are your men and blessed are these your servants who stand before you continually and hear your wisdom. 8 Blessed be the LORD your God, who delighted in you and gave you his throne as king for the LORD your God. Because your God loved Israel, to establish them forever, he has made you king over them to do justice and righteousness. 9 And she gave the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold and spices in great abundance and precious stones. And there were no spices like those which the Queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon. 10 The servants of Huram and the servants of Solomon who brought gold from Ophir also brought algum wood and precious stones. 11 And the king made the almug wood into steps for the house of the LORD and for the house of the king, and harps and lyres for the singers. And nothing like them had been seen before in the land of Judah. 12 And King Solomon gave the Queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, apart from what she had brought to the king. So she turned and went to her land, she and her servants.
